Scott Sanders + Blogfest 2012

My favorite space was this fabulous cabana, designed by New York City and Hamptons-based interior designer <a href="http://www.scottsandersllc.com/">Scott Sanders</a> (photographed here by <a href="http://rikkisnyder.com/" target="_blank">Rikki Snyder</a> and Nick Johnson). So much personality, so much <span style="font-style: italic;">turquoise</span>, I love it! The fun <a href="http://www.scalamandre.com/" target="_blank">Scalamandre</a> sofa fabric is what first won me over...the pictures just do not do it justice! The <a href="http://www.phillipjeffries.com/">Phillip Jeffries</a> grasscloth wallcovering was also great–I've never seen it used in such a fun color!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-9H6RhMr/0/O/i-9H6RhMr.jpg" /><br /></div><br />Another highlight of <a href="http://www.blogfest2012.com/">Blogfest</a> was touring the <a href="http://kravet.com/" target="_blank">Kravet</a> studio. Pretty sure that everyone there has landed their dream job! For starters, being surrounded (and I mean every which way!) by the most beautiful fabric, creative minds and nicest people ever, not to mention really cool technology, in a fabulous city like New York...I loved every minute I spent there. It was really neat to learn the behind-the-scenes stuff. My favorite moment was learning how they make their amazing <a href="http://search.leejofa.com/Lee-Jofa-Print-/667069.LJ-788/CoverInformation.aspx" target="_blank">Lee Jofa "Tree of Life"</a> fabric. 300 of these intricate wooden blocks are used to create one repeat. And get this, the handblocks are almost 100 years old!!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-zx4fJ8B/0/O/i-zx4fJ8B.jpg" /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Here's some more photos of the studio...so much beauty! I don't know what I liked more, the beautiful pink peonies everywhere or the view once it cleared!!<br /></div></div></div></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-FsbPSNQ/0/O/i-FsbPSNQ.jpg" /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Lastly, what an absolute pleasure it was getting to meet and hang out with some truly inspiring and talented design bloggers! It's always so much fun meeting people "in real life", when you feel like you've already known them forever! Here I am with the color-loving girls Maria Killam of <a href="http://www.mariakillam.com/blog" target="_blank">Colour Me Happy</a> and Laura Trevey of <a href="http://www.brightboldbeautiful.com/" target="_blank">Bright Bold & Beautiful</a>! The fact that it's located where it is gives it substantial cred, I know there's a lot of us who adore Chatham (including Coastal Living who just included it on their list of <a href="http://www.coastalliving.com/travel/americas-happiest-seaside-towns-00414000075266/page9.html" target="_blank">America's Happiest Seaside Towns</a>), but aren't the interiors here just perfect too?! Architect <a href="http://www.psdab.com/" target="_blank">John DaSilva</a> spent a year renovating the oceanfront home, preserving original details and maximizing the breathtaking views. The owner, who loves painted furniture, worked with her friend and interior designer <a href="http://www.denisemaurerinteriors.com/index.html" target="_blank">Denise Maurer</a> to achieve the sun, sea and sand look they hoped for. The pretty robin’s egg blue throughout was inspired by the family’s love of the beach, but they also wanted a mix of Old World with contemporary details. And they love wood! All the woodwork is original to the home, but freshened up with pretty paint to keep it from feeling like a dark cave. (Sadly, I don't know any of the specific paint colors–they were all custom Sherwin-Williams!) Did you notice the refreshment counter in the kitchen with a wine bar and built-in coffee system?! Very cool!
