All summer long she has been working hard building this adorable backyard bunkie. It's been so fun watching the progress unfold on her blog, and I have to say the end results are even more darling than I imagined! I can't even handle those floors...they are so stinkin' perfect. She used cottage pine wood flooring from <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/">Home Depot</a> and painted them using high gloss latex floor porch paint in a cheery Jamaican Bay by <a href="http://www.behr.com/Behr/home#" target="_blank">Behr</a>. And I just adore her hand-painted beach sign made from roof scraps. So cute! With the help of heritage architect Rocco Bosman, this 1907 South African farmhouse featured in <a href="http://www.houseandleisure.co.za/its-a-kind-of-magic/" target="_blank">House and Leisure</a> and photographed by Elsa Young was renovated int0 an enchanting French style home. I'm positively in love with those breathtaking arched doors and the 100-year-old French shutters imported by <a href="http://www.bassecour.co.za/" target="_blank">La Basse-Cour</a>. If the garden wasn't so insanely picturesque (did you see those roses?!), it would be hard for me to keep them open! <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://cptnrin.smugmug.com/photos/i-Cw3GdhH/0/O/i-Cw3GdhH.jpg" /><br /><br /></div><br /><br />It's for good reason that this delightful room designed by <a href="http://www.dkda.com/" target="_blank">David Kleinberg</a> and photographed by <a href="http://www.ericpiasecki.com/" target="_blank">Eric Piasecki</a> that was featured in <a href="http://www.architecturaldigest.com/homes/homes/2011/06/david_kleinberg_slideshow#slide=13" target="_blank">Architectural Digest</a> has been shown all over blogland and <a href="http://pinterest.com/turquoise_erin/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>! Honestly I have to say this is one of my favorite images I've ever seen. Maybe because my first love in life was a plump Siamese cat, aptly named Cat...and then my Siamese cats Mouse, Scamp, Gizmo, Shiva and now currently Kismet. (We also have an orange and white cat Spencer, whom I love dearly.) Then add in the fact that long ago when I first discovered my fondness for turquoise, I found it even more favorable when paired with lime green. So there you have it. I'd stare all day at this photo and it would still bring me so much joy. I'm pretty sure I need the bedding from <a href="http://www.leontinelinens.com/" target="_blank">Leontine Linens</a> pronto. However it's the fabulous Paradise Garden toile from <a href="http://quadrillefabrics.com/editorial_pages_a/editorial_html/Paradise_Garden_bedroom_David_Kleinberg_Architectural_Digest_June_2011.HTML" target="_blank">Quadrille</a> on the duvet and walls that is the true darling here! The blue-green quartzite stone on the countertops and used as inlays on the fab limestone floor inspired the room's color palette. I wish I knew what color the cabinets are painted, but they were custom mixed to match a favorite candle of the owner's. Sooo pretty! Everything is so functional and efficient here, a chef's dream come true!
